My name is Amy Nicole Levine, also known as
"Amynix". I was born in San Francisco and as far as I can
remember, I used to pick out tunes and play them by ear on the piano.
At age seven I started my Classical training with a woman who will
always be my mentor. She is in her nineties now and has lost her sight,
but we often get together and talk about music. In high school, I
experimented with Jazz, R&B and Funk in many bands in high school
and in the community. I attended SFSU and earned my Bachelor of Arts
in Music and Sociology. Upon graduating, I performed at various clubs
in the Bay Area with bands like Marin-based "Freak Freely"
and "Grooveline". Later I joined the Bay Area original Hip
Hop band "75
Degrees",
who has shared the same bill with "The
Roots", "Digital Underground," "The
Pharcyde", and "Common".
Currently I compose my own music and also perform with other local
musicians including Biambu, Pi,
and Regina Espinoza. I have performed with party band, "Notorious”
and currently I am a member of "Fivepoint0".
I also teach private piano lessons to both adults and children at
my studio in Oakland and at Bananas
at Large, in San Rafael.
